Primer II: LEED-ing into Living Green
As I was saying in Primer I, there were 2 billion square feet of LEED-certified building stock worldwide as of July 2102. OTOH, the numbers of LEED-certified buildings belonging to faith-based organizations probably aren’t more than a few handfuls. We can take leadership in this measurable vanguard of 21st-century Christianity. St. Margaret’s Stewardship expression through a sustainable new building can come to par with Matthew’s meaning: “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.” (10:29)
So, do you work in a LEED-certified office/building? Supposing you don’t, have you heard anyone at least mention green living—if not the idea that a LEED certification of the existing property would benefit all occupants, and the owner?
Here’s an interactive graphic depiction of a typical single family home and how to green it. Interesting, right?
Try this- “Why You Should Want to Live a Green Life.”. Good ones, don’t you think? The stuff of these questions is already out there, right?
Going to forward one or both to family/friends? (Only GHGs added to the atmosphere would come from the coal/oil/natural gas-fired electricity keeping your computer “lively.”)
