C-MAX ! (envy?)
My sister drove me from Cleveland to Detroit recently in her new Ford C-MAX. Sheesh, wish I had one! (Wish-list is a friendlier notion than envy.) Her car’s advertised MPG is 47—both city and highway. I’m seeing cars like these, in parlance also known as LEVs, in our parking lot. The LEED program, under Sustainable Sites, encourages this means of reducing GHGs (greenhouse gas emissions; who knew?) by awarding 3 points towards certification for projects where preferred parking for LEVs of 5% of total vehicle parking capacity is provided. No, no—don’t worry about handicapped spaces. They will not be displaced, but Fuel Efficient Vehicle parking could be adjacent. ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP (ES) could include walking a few additional yards to the church door.
