Bad News in the Air…
or, actually, about the air. Today’s Washington Post’s headline reads: “CO2 levels in atmosphere rising at dramatically faster rate, U.N. report warns.” From the report: “The symbolically important threshold of 400 parts [CO2] per million — described by scientists as the level at which more dramatic climactic impacts become likely — will probably be crossed in the next two years…”
Methane gas, a more damaging but smaller component of GHGs (greenhouse gas emissions), has also risen dramatically. It’s derived from ag use, fossil fuel extraction and landfills, etc.
I’ll blog on this U. N. report and relevant literature soon.
